How to Diagnose Erectile Dysfunction

Old Age and Erectile Dysfunction

You would like to know if you have erectile dysfunction. The problem is you don’t want to go the doctor for personal reasons most probably because you are embarrass or just because this does not happen to real men. This is of course a common myth among men. Erectile dysfunction can happen to men of all ages and creeds.

First Stage - Erectile dysfunction

First you have to check out your personal history. Are you taking any drugs/or illegal substances. If so check out the side-effects. Most drugs you can search on the internet and its list of common side-effects. Almost 25% of impotence problems are because of pharmaceutical drugs. If so you always substitute the drug with another with less side effects. Please consult your doctor before you do this.

Second Stage - Erectile Dysfunction

Still no luck? So now you need to give yourself a physical examination. First touch your penis Are you sensitive? – are you are not feeling anything? If not it may indicate damage nerves. Do you have hair growing out in weird places or are you experiencing breast enlargement. If so maybe you have some sort of hormonal problem. Also examine your penis itself. Does it have any weird characteristics – bend or curve when it go erect – this can indicate peyronie’s disease which leads to erectile dysfunction. Well now if nothing has been picked up yet you have to think about the possibility of a psychological problem – maybe stress at work, a marriage falling apart, it could be one of hundreds of psychological factors that is invading your subconscious mind and thus your sex drive.

Third Stage - Erectile Dysfunction

Next on the list: Laboratory Tests. These would include blood counts, lipid profile, blood urine test (urinalysis), creatine measurement and liver enzymes. Also check your free testosterone in your blood which would clearly indicate your sex drive (low testosterone = low libido). Most testing facilities will include full diagnoses on blood work and urine tests. You still have no answer to your problem I would advise to go see a medical practitioner. Erectile dysfunction can be beaten.
